A driveway gate adds privacy and security, and it's one of the first things people see when they pull up to your home. Union Garage Door Repair installs new swing and sliding gates across Sonoma County, Napa and Novato, and we can automate them in the same project.
Before we recommend a gate, we look at your driveway: the width, the slope, how much room there is for the gate to swing or slide, and where power is available for an opener. Then we match the gate, hinges or rollers and the gate operator to that space.

Our gate installation services
We handle the gate and the automation together, so you're not coordinating separate crews.
Swing gate installation
Single and double swing driveway gates, hung on hinges and posts sized to the gate's weight.
Sliding gate installation
Track and cantilever sliding gates for driveways without room to swing.
Gate opener installation
Swing-arm and slide operators installed, with remotes, safety sensors and manual release set up and tested.
Access control
Keypads, remotes and other entry options added so the right people can get in easily.
Choosing the right gate
Swing gates
A classic look that works well on level driveways with room for the leaves to open. Double gates split the width and weight across two operators.
Sliding gates
The better choice for sloped driveways or tight spaces where a swing gate won't clear. They slide along the fence line instead of swinging into the drive.
Walk & pedestrian gates
A matching side gate for foot traffic, so the driveway gate doesn't have to open every time someone walks in.
Signs it's time for a new gate
Repair isn't always the best spend. Consider a new gate if:
- The frame is rusted through or rottedStructural damage can't be patched reliably.
- It keeps sagging after repairsThe frame or posts can no longer hold the gate's weight.
- You want to add automationSome older gates are too heavy or flexible to automate safely.
- The gate no longer fits how you use the drivewayA different size or style may work better.
- You're remodeling or improving curb appealA new gate changes the look of the whole entry.
Safety first. Automatic gates are heavy and move with real force. Don't try to force a stuck gate or bypass its safety sensors; switch the operator to manual release only if you know how, and call a technician.
